Dr John Parthenios

He is a Principal Application Scientist at FORTH/Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences. He received his university degree in the Dept. of Physics of the University of Patras and his PhD degree from the same department in 1996. He carried out post- doctoral research for 10 years in FORTH/ICE-HT while during 2008 he was a visiting scientist at University of London, Queen Mary and Westfield College. He has been a member of the Academic staff of the Hellenic Open University for almost 12 years.

He has also been involved as research partner or coordinator in more than 35 competitive research projects funded form National or European funds including ERC including involvement in bilateral projects with industrial partners either local or abroad. Currently his research interests lie in physics and mechanical properties of graphene and other 2D materials having long time expertise in developing innovative instrumentation techniques for their non-destructive characterization.

He has published 78 papers in high impact factor refereed journals (coauthor in 8 of them with the 2010 Nobel of Physics Laureates K. Νovoselov and A. Geim), 6 granted patents (5 international and 1 national) and actively participated in a large number of national and international conferences with more than 150 presentations.

He is also a distinguished Member of the Hellenic Society of Physicists and Editorial board member in Crystals MDPI.
